実用的なユースケース

日本でのタイヤ空気圧は一般的にkPaで表示されます。普通乗用車は220-260 kPa(2.2-2.6 bar、32-38 PSI)が標準です。ガソリンスタンド(ENEOS、出光、コスモ)のエアコンプレッサーはkPa表示ですが、外車のタイヤにはPSI表示のシールが貼ってあるため換算が必要です。気象庁の天気図では気圧をhPaで表します(標準1013 hPa)。米国海洋大気庁(NOAA)のデータはinHgで表示されます。ダイビングではタンクの充填圧は200 barが標準で、水深10mごとに1 atm(約1 bar)ずつ増加します。血圧計の単位は日本ではmmHgが標準ですが、国際基準ではkPaが推奨されており、医学論文では両方併記されることがあります。工業用コンプレッサーや油圧機器の圧力はMPa(メガパスカル)で表示されることが増えています。HVAC業界ではダクト内の静圧測定にPaを使用します。空気圧工具はkgf/cm²の単位が今でも残っています。
