What is this tool?
A crop tool cuts off parts of a picture you do not need. You drag a rectangle around the subject and discard the rest. You need this when a photo has too much sky, an extra person at the edge, or you need a square for a profile picture. Our tool crops with Canvas locally, so you see the exact result before saving.
How it works
We use your browser’s FileReader and Canvas APIs. The file is read into memory, decoded to pixels, and then re-encoded to the target format. For lossy formats we apply quality, for lossless we keep all pixels. The preview and size are computed from the same bytes you will download, so what you see is what you get. No upload happens the bytes live only in your tab until you close it, which keeps it private and fast even on slow internet.
